SUFFOLK  Gertrude Baines King, 89, of the 7000 block of Ruritan Blvd., died April 9, 1998, in Nansemond Pointe Healthcare Centre.
  Born in Nansemond Couonty, she was the widow of James Edward King and a retired salesperson with B.D. Laderbert & Sons Mrs. King was a member of Cypress chapel Congregational Christian Church. She was the daughter of the late Rosa Jones and Wallace K. Baines.
  Survivors include a daughter, Rose K. Raiford and husband, Robert H., of Suffolk; three granddaughters and their husbands, Patricia R. and Rusty Hundley of Suffolk, Kaye R. and Timmy Drake of Capron, Va., and Kathy R. and Cabot Gavin of Franklin, Va.; and six great-grandchildren, Adrienne, Matthew and Susan Hundley of Suffolk, Hudson and Barbara Gavin of Franklin, and Haley Drake of Capron.
  A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in Sidney F. Harrell Funeral Home by the Rev. Reginald Warren and Ed Sunday-Winters. Burial will be in Cypress Chapel Church Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the residence at 7006 Ruritan Blvd.
