NELL COUNCILL JOYNER

FRANKLIN  Nell Councill Joyner, 85, widow of Alonzo Evans Joyner, died Nov. 4 at East Pavilion.
  A native of Nansemond County, she was predeceased by her parents, Jesse Elmer and Lyda Wood Council and brother, Shirley Godwin Councill. Mrs. Joyner retired as office manager for Reliable Furniture Co. and was a member of and former Sunday school teacher at Franklin Baptist Church.
  Survivors include her sister-in-law, Nelsie Council of Holland; a niece, Brenda C. Bunch and husband Joe of Suffolk; a great-niece, a great nephew; and several cousins.
  A funeral was conducted Nov. 7 at Wright Funeral Home wi the Rev. Dr. Richard Childress, Sharon James and Dr. Ira D. Hudgins officiating. Burial followed in Holland Cemetery. The family received friends one hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home and suggest memorials be made to Franklin Baptist Church, 208 N. High St., Franklin, VA 23851.
