Obituary of James Elisha "Jimmy" Joyner JAMES ELISHA JOYNER Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - October 7, 2003 James Elisha "Jimmy" Joyner, 78, died Oct. 5, 2003, at Southampton Memorial Hospital. A native of Isle of Wight County, he was a son of the Clifton and Blanche Butler Joyner. An Army veteran of World War II, he was retired from farming, a retired electrical contractor, and retired electrical and plumbing supply dealer. Jimmy was a member of the Blackwater-Purdie Masonic Lodge. He was a member of Mount Carmel Christian Church, having served as deacon, trustee, and Sunday school superintendent. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Nell Fleming Joyner; two sons, Tommy Joyner and wife Terry of Walters and Gregory Joyner and wife Lori of Zuni; a brother, C. Russell Joyner of Vero Beach, Fla.; and four grandchildren, Kimberly, Joshua, Zack and Megan Joyner. Mr. Joyner was predeceased by a sister, Beatrice N. Vaughan. A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. today in Mount Carmel Christian Church Cemetery, Walters, with the Rev. J. Robert Bennett and the Rev. Tony Rivers officiating.
