Benjamin Edward Joyner Sr., 66, of the 500 block of Biltmore Place, a retired machinist, died March 10, 1992, in a hospital. 
Mr. Joyner was born in Ivor. He had retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard and was an Army veteran of World War II. 
Survivors include his wife, Esther Leone Joyner; two daughters, Sheena M. Kilburn of Portsmouth and Frances A. Cass of Wakefield; two sons, Benjamin Joyner Jr. and John T. Joyner, both of Portsmouth; five sisters, Marjorie Lilly of Mobile, Ala., Mary Alice Freeman of Suffolk, Morna C. Clark of Ivor, Peggy A. Briett and Jean P. Goodrich of Wakefield; two brothers, John B. Joyner of Wakefield and Bobby Crumpler of Ivor; and five grandchildren. 
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Foster Funeral Home by Brother Dennis L. Hughes. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery. Friends may join the family from 7 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home.
