Born Feb. 24, 1912, in Southampton County, he was one of 12 children of the late William Leonard and Effie Cobb Joyner. He was retired from the Maintenance Department of Union Camp Corporation. Mr. Joyner was a member of Franklin Baptist Church and its Bruner Bible Class. Survivors include his wife, of 61 years, Nell Councill Joyner; two sisters, Iona Gayle of Courtland and Hattie Dailey of Suffolk. A funeral was conducted at 2 p.m. Feb. 14, in Franklin Baptist Church by the Rev. Dr. Roy E. DeBrand, Dr. Ira D. Hudgins and Sharon James. Burial was in Holland Cemetery. The family suggest memorials be made to the Franklin Baptist Church Restoration Fund, 208 North High St., Franklin, Va. 23851.
