Robert Ellsworth Jones, 89, a retired businessman, died Aug. 30, 1991, in a hospital. 

Mr. Jones was born in Driver, Va. He was the former co-owner of Jones-Hayes Clothing Store and former president of Franklin Concrete Products. He was a member and former deacon and trustee of the Franklin Congregational Christian Church. He was a graduate of Fishburn Military Academy. 

Survivors include his wife, Eunice Westbrook Jones; a son, Dr. Robert E. Jones Jr. of Birmingham, Ala.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. 

A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in Poplar Spring Cemetery by the Rev. R. Samuel Askew and the Rev. Ira D. Hudgins. Wright Funeral Home is handling arrangements. 

Memorial donations may be made to the Franklin Congregational Christian Church.
