Obituary of Mildred Steinhardt Jones MILDRED STEINHARDT JONES Virginian Pilot 12-11-2002 FRANKLIN - Mildred Steinhardt Jones, 92, of the 600 block of Clay St., died Dec. 10, 2002, at Southampton Memorial Hospital. A lifelong resident of Franklin, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Florence Parr Steinhardt and the widow of Roscoe Phoebus Jones. Mrs. Jones was a 1928 graduate of Franklin High School and attended the College of William and Mary for two years and the University of North Carolina, Greensboro, business school. She was president of the family business, G.H. Steinhardt and Co. Inc. until her retirement. She was a member of the Franklin-Southampton Historical Society, a charter member and first treasurer of Franklin Woman's Club, and former treasurer of the Franklin Library Association. Mrs. Jones was a lifelong member of High Street United Methodist church. Survivors Include a sister, Elizabeth Steinhardt Widmer of Lewsiton, N.C. She was predeceased by a sister Florence Steinhardt Purnell. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Linda Alvis and the Rev. Dr. Ira D.
