He is survived by his wife, Virginia Blanche Russell Johnson, four daughters, Ann E. Porter, Newsoms, Betty E. Ricks, Boykins, Kaye E. Burgess, Boykins, and Rebecca E. Hutson, Calio, a son, Fletcher H. Edwards, Suffolk, three sisters, Lina J. Cooke, Boykins, Norma Lee Cooke, Franklin, and Julia J. Sparkman, Norfolk, ten grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and a great great grandchild. Funeral services will be held at Purviance Funeral Home, Boykins Chapel, on Saturday, Feb. 11, 1995, at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. and at other times at the residence, 22319 Old Chapel Road, Newsoms.
