Mr. Johnson was a native of Southampton County and was retired after 35 years from St. Regis Paper Co. He was a member of the Bethel Assembly of God and was the widower of Lilla Mae Story Johnson. Survivors include two daughters, Joyce J. Miles of Boykins and Diane J. Colon of Suffolk; two sons, Grady L. Johnson of Newsoms and James E. Johnson of Boykins; a sister, Eunice J. Story of Newsoms; eight grandchildren, Lou Ellen Johnson, Betty Dimick, William Russell Miles, Michelle Lynn Colon, Cynthia Diane Colon, Jennifer Marie Colon, Jamie M. Colon and Robert Lee Burton; and two great-grandchildren, Michael Thomas Johnson and Christopher Johnson. A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Bethel Assembly of God by the Rev. William Hawkins. Burial will be in Southampton Memorial Park .
