Obituary of RUSHIE McNEIL RITTER JOHNSON Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Wednesday, October 30, 1996 Rushie Ritter Johnson, 96, formerly of Handsom, died Oct. 29, 1996, in Southampton Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Johnson was a lifelong resident of Southampton County. She was the daughter of the late G.W. and Rosa Lewis Ritter and was the widow of Emmett Robertson Johnson. She was a member of Mount Horeb United Methodist Church. Surviving are three daughters, Janet Cannan of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Mary Nell Turner and her husband, Minnie, of Courtland, and Carolyn Sweeney and her husband, John S., of Boykins; a son, Emmett R. Johnson Jr. and his wife, Betty, of Jacksonville, Fla.; a sister, Inez Tuttle of Portsmouth; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Wright Funeral Home by the Rev. Derek Koolman. Burial will be in Southampton Memorial Park . The family will receive friends in the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday and suggests that memorials be made to Mount Horeb United Methodist Church, c/o Mrs. James Bryant, 25165 Gen.
