Obituary of ROBERT E. JOHNSON

Robert Emmett Johnson, 67, of the 400 block of N. High St., a retired inspector, died Aug. 20, 1991, in a hospital. 

Mr. Johnson was born in Tarboro, N.C. He retired as supervisor of wood inspectors from Union Camp Corp. A former Navy lieutenant commander and pilot, he served in World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church and was a past president of the Franklin Lions Club. 

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Cobb Johnson; two daughters, Diane J. Blankenship of Franklin and Janet J. Hudgins of Gordonsville, Va.; two sisters, Katherine J. Jenkins of Murfreesboro, N.C., and Lois J. Thornton of Hampton; and three grandchildren. 

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday in Emmanuel Episcopal Church by the Rev. Ed Pickup. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Wright Funeral Home is handling arrangements. 

Memorial donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Hampton Roads Chapter, 405 S. Parliament Drive, Virginia Beach, Va. 23462.
