Obituary of ROBERT E. JOHNSON Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - August 21, 1991 Robert Emmett Johnson, 67, of the 400 block of N. High St., a retired inspector, died Aug. 20, 1991, in a hospital. Mr. Johnson was born in Tarboro, N.C. He retired as supervisor of wood inspectors from Union Camp Corp. A former Navy lieutenant commander and pilot, he served in World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church and was a past president of the Franklin Lions Club. Survivors include his wife, Mildred Cobb Johnson; two daughters, Diane J. Blankenship of Franklin and Janet J. Hudgins of Gordonsville, Va.; two sisters, Katherine J. Jenkins of Murfreesboro, N.C., and Lois J. Thornton of Hampton; and three grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday in Emmanuel Episcopal Church by the Rev. Ed Pickup. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Wright Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
