Born Feb. 23, 1919, in Chowan County, N.C., she was the daughter of the late William E. and Eva Baines Ashley, and widow of William Edward Johnson. Mrs. Johnson was a member of Wilroy Baptist Church, the Womens Mission Union and was a former Sunday school teacher of the Fellowship Class. She was a member of Gideon International Auxiliary. Survivors include her daughter, Bonnie J. Wright of Suffolk; sons, W. Warren Johnson of Zuni and C. Bruce Johnson of Suffolk; sister, Daily Umphlett of Suffolk; brother, William E. Ashley, Jr. of Suffolk; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Wilroy Baptist Church by the Rev. Carter Dey, with burial in Holly Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in R.W. Baker and Co. Funeral Home.
