Obituary of Edith Mae Vinson Johnson EDITH MAY VINSON JOHNSON Virginian Pilot 11-02-2002 BOYKINS  Edith Mae Vinson Johnson, 79, died Oct. 31, 2002, at Southampton Memorial Hospital, Franklin. Born in Hertford County, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Jasper C. and Idell Futrell Vinson, and the widow of John Ellis Johnson. She was a graduate of Murfreesboro High School and was a retired clerk in Blowes Red and White Supermarket after 27 years. A member of Boykins Baptist Church, she was a member of Womens Missionary Union, the Ruth Bible Class, and a teacher of the Beginners Class for 47 years. She served on the kitchen committee and was a Clothes Closet worker. She was a member of the Cancer Support Group, Boykins Rainbows, and participated in the Relay-for-Life. Her passion was gardening and she could always be seen working in her yard. Survivors include three sons, John Ellis Johnson Jr. and wife, Deborah of Springfield, Va., Edward Lee Johnson and wife, Melanie of Newsoms and Glenn Vinson Johnson and wife, Patricia of Sumter, S.C.; a brother, Howard L. Vinson Sr., and wife, Jackie of Franklin; a sister, Nell V. Davis of Murfreesboro; a brother-in-law, J.B. Johnson and wife, Kay of Sedley; and nine grandchildren, James Edwad Johnson, Margaret Frances Johnson, Pamela Hope Johnson, Edward Lee Johnson Jr., Ashley Noel Johnson, Kyle Wade Johnson, Carrie Elizabeth Johnson , Kathleen Mae Johnson and Daniel Benjamin Johnson. Mrs. Johnson was predeceased by a son, James Wade Johnson. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Boykins Baptist Church with the Rev. Raymond Bunn officiating. Burial will follow in Beechwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wright Funeral Home; Boykins, and request memorials be made to Boykins Baptist Church, P.O.
