Obituary of DAVID L. JOHNSON The Virginian-Pilot (Norfolk, VA) - February 24, 1995 David Langwood Johnson, 85, of Indian Woods Trail, died Wednesday, Feb. 22, 1995, at Autumn Care of Suffolk. Mr. Johnson was retired from farming and was the widower of Leatha Knight Johnson. He was a native of Southampton County and was the son of the late Herbert and Nonie Fuller Johnson. Mr. Johnson was a member of Vincent's Grove United Methodist Church. Survivors include one son, Leo R. Johnson, and his wife, Jo Ann, of Boykins; one daughter, Betty J. Carter, and her husband, Paul, of Courtland; one brother, Edward Johnson of Smithfield; two grandchildren, James David Carter of Hunterdale and Denise Johnson Edwards of Boykins; one great-grandchild, Victoria Lane Carter; and a longtime companion, Margaret Harrison of Hopewell. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Capron Cemetery by the Rev. Louis A. Martin. The family will receive friends at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today and suggest that memorials be made to Vincent's Grove United Methodist Church, c/o Helen Burgess, 21326 Southampton Parkway, Courtland, Va. 23827.
