Obituary of BUNA MAE BUTLER JOHNSON Virginian Pilot – 11-08-1995 SUFFOLK – Buna Mae Butler Johnson, 87, died Nov. 7, 1995, in Southampton Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Johnson was a naïve of Southampton County and a daughter of the late Richard Algernon Butler and Mary Rebekah Mamie” Pierce Butler. Mrs. Johnson was a retired teacher of the Isle of Wight and Nansemond County School Systems. Mrs. Johnson was a former resident of Holland, Va. Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Holland Christian Church where she sang in the choir for 50 years. She attended Longwood College, was a member of the Obici Hospital Auxiliary, was a volunteer with the American Red Cross and the American Cancer Society. She was a past president of the Holland Woman’s Club. Survivors include one daughter, Ann Johnson Williams of Beaufort, N.C.; one granddaughter, Martha Williams Prideaux of Richmond; and one grandson, James W. Williams III of Raleigh, N.C. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Holland Christian Church by the Rev. Diane Snowa. Burial will be in Holland Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church following the committal service. Memorial donations may be made to Holland Christian Church or Nansemond-Suffolk Rescue Squad. R.W. Baker and Co.
