Born Jan. 22, 1912, in Walnut Cove, N.C. she was the daughter of the late William W. and Susan Taylor Marshall, and the widow of Johnnie E Johnson, Mrs. Johnson retired from Montgomery Ward and was a member of Church of God of Prophecy in Suffolk. Mrs. Johnson is survived by her daughrer, Carolyn Seward Edwards and husband J.L. DeDe of Smithfield; a sister, Mary Blackburn and husband Walter of Portsmouth; a brother, Woodrow Marshall and wife Minnie of North Carolina; three grandchildren. Joseph L. Edwards Jr. and wife Susie of Greendale, Wis., Karen Edwards Wills and husband Gess of Windsor, and Mark A. Edwards and wife Lina of Smithfield; six great-grandchildren ; and two step great-grandchildren. A funeral was held Nov. 11 in R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home by the Rev. Ben M. Fulton and W.A. Paramore. Burial was held in Cedar Hill Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral home.
