Obituary of Arthur Redell Jernigan ARTHUR REDELL JERNIGAN The Tidewater News  03-06-2002 SMITHFIELD  Arthur Redell Jernigan, 77 of the 19000 block of White Oak Drive, died March 23, in his residence. He was a native of Nansemond County, the son of the late Herbert Stanley Jernigan and Effie Harrell Jernigan. He retired as a crane operator from Webster Brick Co. He was a member of Colonial Baptist Church, and a U.S. Army veteran during World War II. He was predeceased by a son, Arthur R. Jernigan Jr.; and a sister, Salena Cox. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Edna Marie Jernigan of Smithfield; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara J. and Curtis Harrell of Smithfield; grandchildren, Kenny Jernigan, Angela Jernigan and Dale Spivey; great-grandchild, Dallas McArthur Jernigan; sister Nellie Weaver of Courtland and brothers, William Jernigan of Elizabeth City, N.C., Raymond Louis and Robert Earl Jernigan, all of Suffolk. A graveside service was conducted March 27 in Holland Cemetery by the Rev. Danny Gray. The family will receive friends at the residence.
