Obituary of James Conrade Hunnings JAMES C. HUNNINGS Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - September 24, 1999 James Conrade Hunnings, 62, departed this life Sept. 23, 1999, at his home. Born Nov. 6, 1936, in Franklin, he attended the old Franklin High School and was a school bus driver for several years. He served as a lance corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1955 to 1959 and was a retired crane operator from Union Camp Corp. with 37 years of service. Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Marla Layman Hunnings; his mother, Bonnie Mae Guyton Hunnings of Courtland; a daughter, Christine H. McCarthy of Boykins; a son, Ronnie Hunnings and his wife, Dana, of Franklin; two brothers, William Mike Hunnings and his wife, Vickie, of Holland Station and David Henry Hunnings and his wife, Vickie, of Franklin; two grandsons, Tyler Lawrence and Jay McCarthy; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, George Hunnings; and a brother, Richard Hunnings. A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Wright Funeral Home, Boykins Chapel, with the Rev. Ben Duffey officiating. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery, Franklin. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home and other times at the home of Ronnie and Dana Hunnings at 33401 Edgehill Drive, Franklin.
