She was a native of Nansemond County and was a homemaker. She was the widow of Abran Thomas “Tom” Holland and was a member of Holland United Church of Christ. She was the daughter of the late Mamie O. Howell and Benjamin Franklin Fowler. Survivors include her two daughters, Mary Nell H. Mathias and Doris Jane H. Gillis, both of Suffolk; one brother, Melvin Lee Fowler of Hampton; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in Sidney F. Harrell Funeral Home, Suffolk, by the Rev. Ed Sunday-Winters and the Rev. E. Cecil Smith. Burial will be in Holland Cemetery, Suffolk.
