She was a native of Isle of Wight County and retired in 1982 from GTE as chief operator with 35 years of service. She was a member of Central Hill Baptist Church. Her sister, Gertrude E. Underwood, and half brother, J.A. Holland, predeceased her. Survivors include a sister, Fannie Stagg Jones; a brother, Eugene Winfield Stagg and wife, Edna, all of Smithfield; three nieces, Faith J. Hall, Linda J. Dunning and Judith U. Uzzell; two nephews, Thomas W. Jones Jr. and Eugene Stagg; and special great-nephew, Tyler Thomas Jones. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Beaver Dam Baptist Church Cemetery with Dr. Donald R. Rhoton offici- ating.
