Obituary of Carroll M. Holland CARROLL M . HOLLAND Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Sunday, November 4, 2001 Carroll M . Holland , 80, died at home Friday, Nov. 2, 2001. A native of Holland , Va., he had been a resident of Norfolk for the past 59 years and a member of Christ United Methodist Church for the past 40 years, where he was a member of the Administrative Board, Adult Bible Class, The Young at Heart and a member and past president of the Methodist Men. Mr. Holland attended the local branch of the American Institute of Banking School and retired from Sovran Bank, now Bank of America, as assistant vice president in 1986 after 45 years of service. Mr. Holland was a member of the Masonic Order, Corinthian Lodge, in which he was a 32nd degree Mason, and member of the Masonic Funeral Committee for the 35th District. He also had been a member of the Holland Hunt Club for the past 56 years. Mr. Holland was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Odelle H. Holland . Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn H. Betz and husband Thomas F. Betz Jr. of Virginia Beach; a son, C. Bryant Holland and his friend, Rick Sluss, of Norfolk; a grandson, Jeffrey F. Estes and wife Aimee M . Estes and great-granddaughter, Caroline LeAnna Estes of Chesapeake; step grandchildren, Kimberly A. Betz and her son, Jackson Betz and daughter Rachel Betz of Suffolk, Todd B. Betz and wife Sylvia Betz and their daughter, Andrea Betz of Virginia Beach; close family friend, Tamra Spurlock of Suffolk; two sisters, Ruby H. Vincent of Portsmouth, Almyra H. Wilson of Suffolk; two brothers, Curtis M . Holland and wife Ivey Mae Holland of Windsor, Bruce C. Holland and wife Helen Holland of Suffolk. A church service will be conducted at 11 a. m . Monday at Christ United Methodist Church, Bayview Blvd., Norfolk, by the Rev. Bruce Carper and the Rev. Frances Cooper. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p. m . Monday in Holland , Va. The family will receive friends today from 5 to 6:30 p. m . in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel.
