Obituary of Horace Henderson Hines Sr. HORACE HENDERSON HINES SR. Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - April 30, 2003 Horace H. Hines Sr., 86, died April 25, 2003. Born on Dec. 7, 1916, he was the son of the late Floyd Albert Hines and Louise Moore Hines of Boykins, Va. Horace attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute and later served in World War II as a test pilot of the Corsair. After the war he returned to Boykins and assumed a position with Hercules Powder Co. in Franklin where he worked until retirement. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth Anderson Hines. Mr. Hines is survived by his children, Susan H. Hice and husband Gerald of Warrenton, Horace H. Hines Jr. and wife Elizabeth of Richmond, Andrea H. Collins of Lanexa and Steven T. Hines and wife Audrey of Franklin; his brother, C.M. Hines and wife Claire of Richmond; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Purviance Funeral Home Chapel, Wakefield. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Boykins United Methodist Church, Boykins, VA 23827.
