Obituary of Dorothy Darden Hays DOROTHY DARDEN HAYS Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) January 25, 2004 Dorothy Darden Hays, 86, died Jan. 23, 2004. She was a native of Isle of Wright, Va. and was the daughter of the late Hardey and Dosia Darden of Carrsville, Va. A lifelong resident of Norfolk, she was a sewing instructor for the Singer Sewing Machine Company at Wards Corner. Mrs. Hays was the wife of the late Albert Hays and was also predeceased by a son, David Hays. Survivors include daughters-in-law, Carolyn Carrico and Carol Wray of Norfolk; grandson, Scott Hays of Rodanthe, N.C.; granddaughter, Audrey Hays of Chesapeake; nephews, Edwin S. Johnson of Norfolk and J. Larry Darden of Carrsville, Va.; nieces, Norma D. Padgett of Lawrenceville, Ga., Anne Darden of Virginia Beach and Barbara Tupack of Fort White, Fla.; as well as great-nieces and great-nephews. A funeral will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, with the Rev. Ernest L. Trueblood officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
