Born in Nansemond County, she moved to Franklin as a child. She was a daughter of the late William Henry and Fannie Boyette Jones and the widow of Naim Melham ``John'' Hawa. Mrs. Hawa was a lifelong member of Franklin Congregational Christian Church and an avid gardner. Survivors include her daughter, Elizabeth M. Hawa of Mechanicsville; two sons, William N. Hawa and his wife, Jean, of Mechanicsville and Joseph N. Hawa and his wife, Antoinette, of Virginia Beach; a brother, James A. Jones of Hampton; five grandchildren, Holly Wachsmuth, William Hawa Jr. and Susan Hawa of Mechanicsville, Tony Hawa and John Hawa of Virginia Beach; six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Marie V. Hawa. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home by the Rev. Lafayette Wilkins. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Franklin Congregational Christian Church, 412 N.
