SUFFOLK - Gertrude Jacobs Harrell, 81, died Saturday, July 6, in Obici Memorial Hospital. 
She was a native of Suffolk. She was a member of Suffolk Christian Church and Suffolk Women's Club. She was a past member of the Lake Kilby Garden Club. 
She was a graduate of Madison State Teachers College. 
Survivors include her son, Richard B. Harrell of Smithfield and one grandchild. 
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suffolk, by Rev. Thomas H. Britton. 
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday in the R. W. Baker and Co. Funeral Home. 
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Suffolk Christian Church or the Nansemond-Suffolk Volunteer Rescue Squad.
