JAMES E. GRIGGS

James Edward Griggs, 79, of the 3300 block of Pruden Blvd., died Dec. 20, 1997. 

Mr. Griggs, a native of Nansemond County, had retired as an equipment operator for Nansemond Co. Ford Sales. He was a member of Bethlehem Christian Church. He was the son of the late Eddie Lee and Bertha Norfleet Griggs. 
Survivors include his wife, Mary Elizabeth Britt Griggs; a stepdaughter; two stepsons; two sisters, Virginia G. Brinkley of Suffolk and Jean G. Cutchins of Franklin; and a brother, John Norfleet Griggs of Suffolk. 
A graveside service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. today in Bethlehem Christian Church Cemetery by the Revs. Charles Melvin and T.A. Powell. The family will be at 1546 Wilkins Drive, the home of Virginia G. Brinkley. Hill Funeral Home is in charge.
