A native of Southampton County, she was the daughter of the late David Crockett and Blannie Parker Ricks, and was the widow of Joe Griffin. Mrs. Griffin was a licensed practical nurse for 25 years and was a member of the Franklin Congregational Christian Church. Survivors include two sisters, Violet R. Taylor of Seattle, Wash., and Mildred R. Babb of Sebrell, Va.; brother, Joe Sam Ricks of Suffolk; and 22 nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Hue C. Griffin; and two brothers, Randolph Ricks and William Ricks. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Wright Funeral Home by the Rev. L.A. Wilkins and the Rev. Jim Smith. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday and at other times at the home of Mildred Babb, 16331 Plank Road, Sebrell.
