The Virginian-Pilot (Norfolk, VA) - June 22, 1994 Mr. Berkley Cleveland Gray Sr., age 82, a resident of Newsoms, died on Monday, June 20, 1994, at Southampton Memorial Hospital, Franklin. Mr. Gray was a native of Southampton County and was the son of the late Willie David and Dora Drake Gray. He was a member of Barnes United Methodist Church in Newsoms and was a retired farmer. He is survived by his wife, Grace Jones Gray; two daughters, Jean Gray Ivey of Newsoms and Ann Gray Futrell of Apex, N.C.; four sons, Berkley C. Gray Jr. of Staunton, Kenneth W. Gray of Hampton, Joe Gray of Stony Creek and Michael Gray of Jarratt; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A graveside funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. at Beechwood Cemetery in Boykins on Thursday, June 23, 1994.
