Obituary of Virginia Benson Gibson VIRGINIA IRENE BENSON GIBSON Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - May 15, 2004 Virginia Benson Gibson, 77, died May 14, 2004, at Tandem Healthcare in Windsor. Born in Southampton County, she was a daughter of the late Charlie and Ida Mae Coggsdale Benson and the widow of John Gilbert Gibson, Horace Bowles and Richard Harmon. Mrs. Gibson was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 4411. Survivors include two daughters, Diane Holland of Smithfield and Jo-Ann Robuck of Franklin; five sons, Tommy Harmon, Billy Bowles and Edward Bowles, all of Franklin, Herbert Bowles of Courtland, Wayne Bowles of Suffolk; a nephew, Ray Bowles of New Bern, N.C.; 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by three sisters, Ruby Fuller, Neva Bowles and Myrtle Frances; and three brothers, Jessie Benson, J.R. Benson and Lynn Benson. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home with Bishop Roger Holland officiating. Burial will follow in Poplar Spring Cemetery . The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home and suggests that memorials be made to the American Heart Association, c/o June Duck, 27351 Delaware Road, Franklin, VA 23851.
