Obituary of MARK GIBSON The Virginian-Pilot (Norfolk, VA) - December 23, 1993 Mark Gibson, 70, of the 400 block of Crescent Drive, died Dec. 22, 1993, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. Mr. Gibson was born in Beaufort County, N.C., and was the son of the late Virgil M. and Mattie May Swindell Gibson. He was a retired Class A Millwright from the Maintenance department of Union Camp Corporation after 36 years of service. Mr. Gibson was a member of Franklin Baptist Church and the Bronco Rod and Gun Club. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Dupree Gibson; two daughters, Peggy G. Stephenson of Franklin and Loretta G. Barber of Oxnard, Calif.; one son, Joseph R. Gibson of Richmond; one sister, Elsie G. Lindley of Greenville, Tenn. Mr. Gibson was predeceased by one son, Virgil Mark Gibson; nine grandchildren, Kim S. Taylor, Herman Scott Stephenson III, Joseph Mark Stephenson, Melissa R. Stephenson, William Samuel DeLucia, Amy Elizabeth Barber, John H. Barber III, Kate Cenname Gibson, Joseph Cenname Gibson; three great-grandchildren, Gerald Blake Taylor III, Kelley Elizabeth Taylor and Kristen Nicole Stephenson. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Poplar Spring Cemetery by Dr. Roy DeBrand and Rev. Sharon James. The family will receive friends at Wright Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today.
