Mrs. Doris Avent Francis, age 79, a resident of Pinopolis Road, Boykins died Friday, October 28, 1994 at Southampton Memorial Hospital, Franklin. She was a lifelong resident of Southampton County. She was a member of the Capron Baptist Church and the Women's Missionary Union. She was the widow of Herbert M. Francis, the mother of the late Shirley F. Spruill and the daughter of the late Hugh and Pattie Dunn Avent. 

She is survived by two sons, Berkley M. Francis and Kenneth W. Francis of Boykins; one sister, Elsie A. Jarratt of Capron; three grandchildren, Dennis O. Spruill, K. Michael Francis and Brian M. Francis and two great grandchildren, Denton Spruill and Shirley L. Spruill. 

A funeral service will be held on Monday October 31, 1994 at 2:00 P.M. at Capron Baptist Church by Rev. Russ Ford. Burial will be at the Capron Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home of Berkley M. Francis, 15222 Pinopolis Road, Boykins. Purviance Funeral Home, Boykins Chapel is handling the arrangements.
