Obituary of Martha Virginia Worrell Fowler MARTHA VIRGINIA WORRELL FOWLER Virginian Pilot - 01-19-2005 FRANKLIN - Martha Virginia Worrell Fowler, 86, passed away Jan. 17, 2005, surrounded by her beloved children and grandchildren. Born Oct. 3, 1918, in Nansemond County, Va., she was a loving, hardworking Christian her entire life. She was the daughter of the late Lawson and Ruth Worrell and was predeceased by her husband, Johnnie Fowler. Known as "Mama," to her children, she was also named "Mammy" and "Granny," by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Black Creek Baptist Church. Survivors include her three sons, Johnny L. "Buddy" Fowler and wife Becky, William H. "Henry" Fowler and wife Becky and Lawson W. "Dickie" Fowler and wife Ellen, all of Franklin; four daughters, Faye F. Vinson and husband Carlton and Sarah F. Long and husband Jimmy, all of Franklin, Mary F. Marshall and husband Rudy of Lexington, S.C., Martha Ann F. Lander of Sandston; 11 grandchildren, Shannon Justus and husband Frank, Nicole Branch and husband Bryan, Jennifer Keech and husband Jason, Steven Marshall, Jason Fowler, Jessica Fowler, Amanda Fowler, April Eure and husband Jake, Rachel Lander, Elizabeth Lander and Andrew Fowler; three great-grandchildren, Michael Justus, Caroline Branch and Kayla Keech and one on the way; sister, Kathleen W. Boyette of Windsor; foster brother, Dorman Cavin; and special nephew, Franklin Fowler of Dadeville, Ala. She was predeceased in death by a brother, Herman Worrell; sister, Ruby W. Perkins; and son-in-law, Charles Lander. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Black Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Greg Kitts officiating. Burial will be in Southampton Memorial Park.
