Obituary of BURNELL GALTRESS FOWLER Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Friday, November 29, 1996 Burnell Galtress Fowler, 68, of New Market Road, died Nov. 28, 1996, in Obici Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Fowler was a lifelong resident of Southampton County and was the daughter of Thomas Galtress Sr. and the late Ida Raiford Galtress. She was the widow of Carroll Edward Fowler Sr. She was a member of the Hunterdale United Church of Christ and was senior vice president of the Women's Auxiliary of VFW Post 4411. She is survived by two sons, Carroll E. Fowler Jr. of Courtland and James T. Fowler and his wife, Nina, of Franklin; a sister, Virginia Darden of Courtland; a brother, Richard A. Galtress of Murfreesboro, N.C.; four grandchildren, Vanessa Gude, Jason, Travis and Cullen Fowler; and a great-grandson, Wyatt Gude. She was predeceased by a brother, Thomas Galtress Jr. A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, by the Rev. Dr. Alan R.W. Campbell. Burial will be in Southampton Memorial Park . The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in the funeral home and at other times in the home of Jimmy and Nina Fowler, 731 Rebecca St., Franklin.
