James Irving Fisher, 73, died Jan. 8, 2001, in Richmond. 

A native of Southampton County, he was a son of the late Lawrence Fisher and Helen Owens Fisher Noreck. He was an Army Air Force veteran of World War II and a graduate of the University of South Carolina. Mr. Fisher was a retired salesman and pilot. 

Survivors include two sons, James Irving Fisher Jr. and his wife, Kathy, of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla., and John Steven Fisher and his wife, Susanna, of Richmond; a brother, Jack Fisher of Pawleys Island, S.C.; and two grandchildren, Nicole and Alexandra Fisher. 

A graveside funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Poplar Spring Cemetery , Franklin. The family will receive friends at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, at 1 p.m. Wednesday.
