Dawn Michelle Ferguson, 17, of Statesville Road, died May 1, 1991, in a Norfolk hospital. 

Miss Ferguson, a native of Riverside, Calif., was an 11th-grader at Southampton High School and a member of the French Club and Students Against Drunk Driving. She was a member of Barnes United Methodist Church. 

Survivors include her parents, Johnnie E.C. Ferguson and John D. Ferguson, both of Newsoms ; her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John D. Cheek of Franklin, Myrtle Scott of Crittendon and Nell J. Ferguson of Newsoms ; and her great-grandmother, Florence Cheek of Wilkes County, N.C. 

The graveside service be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Hollywood Cemetery by the Rev. Charlene Beethoven and the Rev. Kenneth Williams. McDowell Funeral Home, Boykins, is handling arrangements.
