Obituary of Jack Broadway Farmer JACK B FARMER Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - April 10, 2004 Jack Broadway Farmer, 80, widower of Anne Vaughan Farmer, died April 9, 2004. Born in Lancaster, Pa., he was the only child of the late Charles Broadway and Maude McCoy Farmer. Mr. Farmer attended Fork Union Military School and was a 1942 graduate of Franklin High School. An Army veteran of World War II and a former prisoner of war, he served with the 79th Infantry Division in the European Theater until captured in 1944 where he remained until liberated by Americans in 1945. Mr. Farmer was a former insurance agent with Travelers Insurance Co., a former salesman for Homecraft Corporation and former manager of Forest Pine Apartments. He was a longtime member of High Street United Methodist Church, a former member of the Franklin Jaycees, Franklin Lions Club and a member and past commander of the Charles R. Younts American Legion Post 73. Survivors include his daughter, Fran F. Waller and husband, Marc; two granddaughters, Sarah Ann Waller and Elizabeth Vaughan Waller; a dear friend Goldzsie Duncan; and a host of cousins in Nash County, N.C. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Linda Alvis and the Rev. Edward C. Johnson officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Poplar Springs Cemetery .
