Obituary of EMILY CAMPBELL ELMORE Virginian Pilot (Norfolk, VA) December 2, 1992 Emily Campbell Elmore, 82, of North Main Street, died Dec. 1, 1992, at the home of her daughter in New Bern, N.C. A native of Suffolk, she was the widow of Earle Wiley Elmore and the daughter of the late Dr. Henry Wood Campbell and Emeline Eley Campbell. She was a lifelong active member of Main Street United Methodist Church, where she served on the Board of Stewards and was a member of the church circle. She was a member of the Suffolk Literary Club, the second oldest literary club in Virginia, and the Nansemond River Garden Club. She was a member of the Nansemond Suffolk Historical Society. Her home, built in 1873 by her grandfather Richard Seth Eley, was on tour several times over the years for the Historical Society as well as during garden week for the Garden Club of Virginia. Mrs. Elmore was an artist specializing in china painting. Her works were exhibited in gift and museum shops. She attended Ward Belmont College in Nashville, Tenn., and the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Va. Survivors include two daughters, Emeline Elmore Keith of Wilmington, N.C., and Rebecca Elmore Clement of New Bern, N.C.; two grandsons, Harrison L. Keith III and Brandon Elmore Keith; two granddaughters, Emily Clement Stewart and Frances Hunter Clement; a great-grandson, Burton Gloyden Stewart IV; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Dec. 3, 1992, in Main Street United Methodist Church, Suffolk, by the Rev. James Noland. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
