Born in Franklin, he was a son of the late Joseph Elliott Edwards Sr. and Minnie Blythe Edwards. An Army veteran of the Vietnam War, he retired after 20 years from the Wood Yard Division of Union Camp Corp. He was a member of Hunterdale United Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Rebecca Turner Edwards; a daughter, Holly Dawn Edwards of Courtland; a son, Eric Shane Edwards of Franklin; two sisters, Linda E. Hall of Franklin and Faye E. Stephens of Carrsville; a brother, Joseph E. Edwards Jr. of Franklin; and a grandson, Gavin W. Bryant of Courtland. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Poplar Spring Cemetery .
