FRANKLIN - Norman Horace Edwards, 85, passed away peacefully after a long illness Friday, July 13, 2001, in Franklin. 
   Mr. Edwards was born in Hertford County, N.C., a son of the late James William and Mattie Reames Edwards. He was a member and former deacon and Sycamore Baptist Church and was retired from Union Camp after 36 years as an operator in the power plant department. 
   Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Lona Burgess Edwards; a daughter, Kay E. Vargo and husband, Jimmy, of Boykins; a son, Alan C. Edwards and his wife, Beverly, of Aylette, Va., a sister, Hazel E. Vaughan of Murfreesboro, N.C.; four grandchildren, Blakley, Betsy and Macon Edwards and Kelly Vargo; and a host of nieces and nephews. 
   A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in Southampton Memorial Park , Franklin, with the Rev. Dr. Reginald Warren officiating. Memorials may be made to the Sycamore Baptist Church Building Fund, 31120 Sycamore Church Road, Franklin, VA 23851. Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, is in charge.
