Obituary of Nannie Wilhoit Edwards NANNIE FIERS WILHOIT EDWARDS Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Friday, December 10, 1999 Nannie Wilhoit Edwards, 87, died Dec. 9, 1999, at her home. Mrs. Edwards was born in Albemarle County, Va., a daughter of the late Clarence E. and Nannie Fiers of Wilhoit and the widow of Richard Spear Edwards Sr. Mrs. Edwards was very active in Boykins community affairs including Boykins Baptist Church, the L.L.L. Bible Class and Tarrara Women's Club. She was a former employee of Peeble's Department Store, Carlton's Esso, and the Butcher Block. Surviving are two sons, Richard Spear Edwards Jr. and his wife, Mary Ann, and Roderick Wilhoit Edwards and his wife, Billie, all of Boykins; four sisters, Charleton Sykes of Newsoms, Amorette Turner of Pamplico, S.C., Mable McNair of Hartsville, S.C., and Caroline Georgie Morris of Manteo, N.C.; a brother, Richmond Wilhoit of Florence, S.C.; five grandchildren, Susan E. White, Richard S. Edwards III, Todd B. Edwards, Wendy A. Newman, and Ronda E. Savel; two step-grandchildren, Kimberly Brinkley and Christopher Glenn Newton; seven great-grandchildren, Lauren E. White, Keaton White, Tanya Bynum, Mandy Casper, Jennifer Edwards, Charlie Edwards and April Savel; and one step-great-grandchild, Meghan Brinkley. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Beechwood Cemetery with the Rev. Ben Thomas officiating. Family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Wright Funeral Home, Boykins.
