Obituary of Gerald Lee Duncan GERALD LEE DUNCAN Donated Obit - D. 03-13-2005 FRANKLIN - Gerald Lee Duncan, 68, died March 13, 2005, at his residence. A native of Hampden-Sydney, Va., He was a son of Lois Dowdy Duncan and the late Herman Lee Duncan. He was a district manager and tax preparer for H&R Block with 36 years service. Gerald was an Army veteran and attended Hampden-Sydney College where he played baseball and basketball and was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. An avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing, Gerald was a member of Courtland Baptist Church and a past member of the Franklin Jaycees and the Hunterdale Ruritans. In addition to his mother, Gerald is survived by his wife of 37 years, Dianne Hundley Duncan; two daughters, Sharon D. Mayes and husband Wamer and Rebecca D. Whitehurst and husband William, all of Courtland; a sister, Arlene D Garrett and husband George of Tabb., Va.; four grandchildren, Katie Duncan Joyner, Taylor Hundley Joyner, William Lewis Mayes and Dustin Jacob Whitehurst; an aunt, Goldzsie M. Duncan of Franklin; a niece, Susan Garrett Eng of Yorktown; and a nephew, George E. Garrett Jr. of Richmond. A funeral will conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Tommy Speight officiating. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. in college Church Cemetery, Hampden-Sydney. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home and suggests memorials be made to the Courtland Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O.
