Obituary of Harvey Carr Duke HARVEY CARR DUKE JR. (headline) Virginian Pilot  01-03-1999 Harvey Carr Duke, 80, a lifelong resident of Suffolk, died Jan. 2, 1999, in Obici Hospital after a short illness. He was a native of Suffolk and retired as a millwright for Birdsong Peanut Co. He was a member of First Baptist church, N. Main St., where he was a member of the Thurman Hayes and David Jernigan Sunday School Class. Mr. Duke was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the son of the late Harvey C. Duke, Sr. and Mary Carr Duke. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Harcum Duke of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis D. and Linwood Benton of Virginia Beach, Carolyn D. and Andy Dunn of Suffolk; a son and daughter-in-law, Johnny R. Duke and Amy Jennette of Suffolk; two sisters, Virginia D. Sheffield and Catherine D. Howell, both of Suffolk; six grandchildren, the Rev. Sandra L. Benton, Shelly Dunn, Allison Dunn, Andy Dunn, Jason Duke and Suzanne Duke; and one beloved pet, Judy. A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Harrell Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles W.
