Putnam Owen "P.O." Duck Jr., 84, a retired wholesale salesman, died July 27, 1992, in a Franklin hospital. 

Mr. Duck was born in Nansemond County. He had retired from Old Dominion Tobacco Co., Virginia Beach. He was a member of South Quay Baptist Church; Woodmen of the World; and a former member of Sedley Volunteer Fire Department. He was a charter member of Sedley Ruritan Club. 

Survivors include his wife, Hattie Beaton Duck; two daughters, Judith D. Sandlin of Columbia, S.C., and Patricia Carter of Norfolk; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. 

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, by the Rev. David L. Johnson. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery, Franklin. Memorial donations may be made to Courtland Rescue Squad or Sedley Baptist Church.
