A native of Nansemond County, he was predeceased by his parents, Gavin Fenton and Susie Bryan Duck and two brothers, G.F. Duck, Jr. and N.T. Duck. An Army veteran of World War II, Jimmie was a retired supervisor in the building products division of Union Camp Corporation, a member of Woodmen of the World and Masonic Lodge No. 151 AF&AM. He was a member and former deacon of Franklin Baptist Church and a member of the Bruner Bible Class. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Alma Butler Duck; a daughter, Barbara D. Johnson and husband tom of Chesapeake; a son, J. Richmond Duck and wife Harriet of Franklin; a granddaughter, Jennifer Johnson of Ahoskie, N.C. ; and a step-grandson, Bain Ford of Alexandria. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Franklin Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. A. Richard Childress and the Rev. Ira D. Hudgins officiating. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Franklin Baptist Church Scholarship Fund, 208 North High St., Franklin, VA 23851. Wright Funeral Home is assisting the family.
