Obituary of Gussie Irene Holland Duck GUSSIE IRENE HOLLAND DUCK Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - December 14, 2001 FRANKLIN - Irene Holland Duck, 82, died Dec. 13, 2001, in Southampton Memorial Hospital. Born in Holland, Va., she was a daughter of the late Gus Royster and Euna Ellis Holland. Mrs. Duck was the widow of William Crawley Duck, to whom she was married for 47 years, and along with her husband, was co-owner of Duck's Seafood and Norge Laundry Village. She was a member of Franklin Baptist Church for 54 years. Survivors include a daughter, Linda D. Edwards and husband Richard of Sedley; three sisters, Alise Saunders of South Quay, Annie Lee Brownlee of Santa Maria, Calif., and Martha Smith of Virginia Beach; a brother, R. Parker Ellis of Roanoke; two grandchildren, Richard C. Edwards Jr. and wife Pamela of Richmond and Rinda LaNette Edwards of Alexandria, Va.; three great-grandchildren, Samantha Ann, Mitchell William, and David Rowen Edwards, all of Richmond; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Duck was predeceased by two sisters, Bessie Edwards and Odessa Harcum and five brothers, Ellis Holland, Gus R. Holland Jr., Floyd Holland, Letcher Holland and J. Richard Holland. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home by the Rev. Dr. Ira D. Hudgins and the Rev. James M. Smith. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery . The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home and other times at the residence, 302 Bogart St., and suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Franklin Baptist Church Gardens and Grounds Fund, 208 N.
