NEWSOMS - Stephen Joseph Drake, 22, died July 14, 2001, at the Medical College of Virginia Hospital in Richmond. 

Stephen was the service manager of Branchville Machinery Company, attended Barnes United Methodist Church and loved his movies and books. 

Survivors include his wife, Kelly Stanfield Drake; his parents, Joseph H. and Linda Tomlin Drake of Newsoms ; a brother, Patrick Justin ``P.J.'' Drake; maternal grandmother, Patsy Tomlin of Franklin; paternal grandparents, R.E. and Hilda Drake of Newsoms ; and a large extended family. He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, William A. ``Bill'' Tomlin. 

A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Hollywood Cemetery with the Rev. Gary Hartman officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, and suggests that memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 1224, Franklin, VA 23851.
