Obituary of Dock Vick Drake DOCK VICK DRAKE The Tidewater News - 11-11-2004 DOCK V DRAKE CARRSVILLE - Dock Vick Drake, 77, died Nov. 4. A native of Southampton County, he was a son of the late Johnny Columbus and Betty Vick Drake and a member of Colosse Baptist Church. Dock was an Army veteran of World War II and a retired supervisor with the Virginia Department of Corrections. Survivors include his wife, Kathryn Robertson Rose Drake; two daughter Mary Ann Taylor and husband Gerald of Franklin and Betty Lou Cobb and husband James of Windsor; four sons, Jerry Drake and wife Linda and Hank Drake and wife Jo Tee, all of Windsor, Freddie Drake and wife Jackie and Steve Drake, all of Carrsville; a stepson, Alan Rose and wife Angie of Portsmouth; 14 grandchildren, Shari L. Sullivan, Annissa Griffith, Gerald B. Taylor Jr., Jody R. Taylor, Buffy J. Drake, Melanie C. Harrington, Vickie T. McDonald, Shannon D. Bracey, Candy D. Marston, Mitchell K. Goodman Jr., Joseph D. Drake, Lisa A. Drake, Heather Goodman and Micheal Rose; 10 great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Rudy Forman. Mr. Drake was predeceased by his first wife, Blanche Story Drake; son, Joseph "Pug" Drake; grandson, Freddie Dock Drake; sister, Elsie Mae Drake; and six brothers, John, Claude, Linwood, Spurgeon Genie and Tommy Drake. A funeral was held Nov. 7 in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, with the Rev. Tim Webb officiating. Burial followed in Hollywood Cemetery, Newsoms. The family received friends at the funeral home and suggests in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Windsor Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O.
