Obituary of Lonnie Lee Doughty ALONZO LEE DOUGHTY Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - March 28, 1997 Lonnie Lee Doughty, 87, passed away March 25, 1997, in Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., after a brief illness. He was born in New Bern, N.C., the son of the late Herbert B. and Janie Bell Doughty. He was the former owner and operator of Doughty Buick-Pontiac-Oldsmobile in Franklin. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Mildred Williams Doughty; four daughters, Elaine D. Burkhart of Ambler, Pa., Linda D. Mahoney of Virginia Beach, Carolyn D. Chio of Peoria, Ariz., Gywnn D. Kellis of San Francisco; a son, the Rev. Dr. Louis T. Edwards of Tampa, Fla.; and a sister, a brother, five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday in High Street United Methodist Church by the Rev. Edward Johnson. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. at the church fellowship hall before the funeral. Burial with Masonic rites will be at Poplar Spring Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to High Street United Methodist Church, Franklin, Va. 23851 or to a favorite charity. Wright Funeral Home is in charge.
