Mrs. Darden was a native of Southampton County and was the daughter of Thomas Galtress Sr. and the late Ida Raiford Galtress. She was retired from St. Regis Paper Co. and was a member of Franklin Baptist Church. Besides her father, she is survived by her husband of 22 years, John Robert Darden; three daughters, Sheri D. Watson of Courtland , Teresa D. Villorente of Suffolk, Kathy D. Williams of Dublin, Ga.; a brother, Richard Galtress of Murfreesboro; nine grandchildren; five nieces and two nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Burnell G. Fowler and a brother, Thomas Galtress Jr. A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, by the Rev. Dr. Roy DeBrand and the Rev. Timothy L. Piland with burial in Riverside Cemetery , Courtland . The family will receive friends at 7 p.m. today in the funeral home and suggests that memorial donations be made to the Franklin Baptist Church.
