The Virginian-Pilot (Norfolk, VA) - Friday, August 12, 1994 Harvey James Darden Jr., 73, of 31505 Hall Road, died Thursday, Aug. 11, 1994, at his home after a long illness. He was born in Nansemond County and was the son of the late Harvey J. Sr. and Willie Mae Parker Darden. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Branchville Baptist Church. Mr. Darden had retired from farming and was the owner and operator of Windy Acres Farm. He was the originator and charter member of Windy Acres Hunt club. Survivors include his wife, Hazel Joyner Darden; a daugher, Linda D. Hedgepeth of Norfolk; a son, Dennis Wayne Darden of Branchville; a sister, Virgie D. Beale of Franklin; a brother, J. Ashley Darden of Newsoms; four grandchildren, Anne-Nicole Hedgepeth, Leigh Catherine Hedgepeth, Casey Jeanette Darden and Travis Reed Darden. He was predeceased by a grandchild, Lori Elizabeth Hedgepeth, and two brothers, Thomas and Parker Darden. A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin. Burial will be in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. today and suggest that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 116 Southampton Road, Franklin, Va. 23851.
